Fire Prevention Week 2015

Fire Prevention Week 2015 is just around the corner. This year's theme is "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep!" - reminding everyone that half of all home fire deaths occur between the hours of 11PM and 7AM - when most people are asleep.

Properly installed and working smoke alarms can mean the difference between life and death in the event of a home fire emergency.

  • From 2007-2011, three out of five home fire deaths were caused by fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
  • Working smoke alarms decrease the risk of death in reported home fires by half.
