Spring and early summer are full of severe weather and natural disaster awareness events. This is the perfect time of the year to make sure that you are prepared and ready to handle any severe weather events that may come your way.

So far this month, there's been Severe Weather Preparedness Week (March 2 - 8) and Flood Awareness Week (March 16 - 22). Presently, it's Tsunami Preparedness Week. The highest tsunami risk areas are those around the Pacific Basin. But anyone who lives on a coast should be prepared for a tsunami. Do you know your risk? Do you know what to do in the event of a tsunami warning? If not, take the time to learn what you should do to keep you and your family safe.

Upcoming awareness events include: Heat Awareness Day (May 23), Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 25 - 31), Rip Current Awareness Week (June 1 - 7), and Lightning Safety Awareness Week (June 22 - 28).
