Help prepare your community for fire emergencies when you give them a “Look, Listen and Learn – Be Fire Ready Every Day” presentation card. It focuses on the necessary planning and preparedness steps that individuals need to take in order to fire ready.

The card begins by telling people to LOOK for fire hazards in their homes. It focuses on major home hotspots like the kitchen, electrical wiring and heating devices. It helps family’s look and be aware of fire hazards that are around them every day, to help prevent a fire before it can start.

Another important part of fire safety is to LISTEN for the sound of a smoke alarm. The card covers smoke alarm maintenance and placement to insure your family is warned if there is a fire. Explaining that family’s should change smoke alarm batteries twice a year, replace them every ten years and test them monthly. Smoke alarms save lives!

Finally the card informs family’s to LEARN two ways out of every room. Having a safe escape plan, a safe meeting place, and practicing home fire drills is key to escaping a fire safely. Explaining the importance of creating and practicing a plan by drawing a floor plan of the house and creating two clear paths out of every room. Also, to create a safe meeting place outside and far from danger, and to practice fire drills twice a year.
